Appointment Scheduled and Weather Watching

As Jean warned me, it takes a long time to get an appointment with a Specialist.  The appointment I did get with the Neurologist was not until December 20??? I am on the waiting list but I texted my doctor this info in hopes she will lean on the new doctor to get me in sooner.

I've taken to reading the Weather Channel to have something instead of political maneuvering to read.  It's actually kind of interesting.  Who knew there were so many conditions (with a name) that affect the weather around us.  Today I was reading what the Weather Talking Heads had to say about El Nino and how it might affect this heat wave.  Of course, it is mostly Greek to me but if I keep reading it may start to make sense.

I purchased a house in Louisiana from a soldier at the base there who was an Air Force Weather and Environment Sciences Officer.  I asked him one day if it was going to rain over the weekend as I would be driving to Houston.  He couldn't answer me without doing calculations, he said.  I thought no wonder the Weather Man on TV has trouble getting it right.

Today I read a list of which years had the highest and lowest official tropical storms and hurricanes.  Turns out 2013 was the best at only 4.  It was back in the 60s that we had another year with only 4.

Yes, I am pretty hurricane focused but having lived through several really big ones during my lifetime, I don't feel at all silly for being prepared or running like Hell if I think one is coming.  Hahaha.

More later ...

  1. While you're waiting for that specialist appointment in the far distant future, might it not be a good idea to go see your GP about the dizziness? He/she could order tests and do the obvious checks for possible causes quite quickly, I would think.

  2. I’m with Debra about the dizziness too. Take care of yourself.

  3. I'm glad you called and got on their books. I need some tests to find out if I have internal bleeding causing my anemia and swollen leg and I have to wait until November too. Seems unacceptable but the medical field lost a lot of personal during covid, they say.

  4. Glad you listened to Jean. We have tornados down here I haved learned. Thankfully all around me. But with no basements where does one go when there is a tornado? Hmm...

  5. Lately the weather is just as distressing as the news! And medical care seems to be taking a nose dive. The standard now seems to be that the doctor spends the time looking at the computer instead of the patient and going to the ER is a complete waste of time as insurance regulations dictate a doctors ability to order tests, offer treatment, make referrals, or prescribe medications.

  6. I'm so glad you got an appointment, but hopefully you can get in before Halloween!
I too watch for the hurricanes; we both know they don't play!

  7. I have had vertigo, and was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease after seeing (many times, many tests) by a Neuro-Otologist (ear specialist). The vertigo was SO horrible, and I'm sorry you are experiencing it. Mine seemed to come on more often if I was stressed or fatigued. It has not recurred for quite awhile, though I still have some balance deficit due to an especially bad and long episode. I hope you find some answers soon. Take care. I will be thinking of you.
