I've been trying to post for a couple of weeks now but have little to share except my own medical fiasco. I woke up one morning so dizzy I could not walk and fell on my way to the bathroom. I went to the ER. They could not diagnose the cause of the dizziness so referred me to a neurologist. Of course, I did not schedule an appointment because I remember my Mother having Vertigo with her Type 2. When I went to my endocrinologist she told me I had to go. Hahaha. Felt like a school girl who got caught by her teacher.
I haven't scheduled my appointment yet but I will. (It's just to hot in my old car to be out during the day.) Maybe they will tell me why my brain has been so scattered. If I'm lucky, and I'm sure I will be, she will tell me it's old age. I can live with that.
The heat continues and the one good thing from this is that I've reset my internal thermostat. I used to sleep with the AC on 65. If it was any hotter I woke many times during the night and my sugar ran higher.
I have gradually raised the inside temperature to 75 at night and 80 during the day. I tried 85 yesterday and felt quite uncomfortable so back up to 80 today. Of course, I sit with the fan blowing on me so that helps too. I'm talking $300 bills which just annoys the #$#^ out of me.
Here's how Buddy handles the heat - cooling his undercarriage on the tile floor.
I'm thinking about trying this next.
More later ....
I certainly would not put off making that appointment. You don't want to fool around with dizzy spells. I'm worried about you!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what medical conditions you may have, if it is safe for you, you can buy Dramamine-N over the counter that will help with the vertigo. My doctor prescribes meclizine for me. My vertigo is due to my inner ear.
ReplyDeleteI hope you make that appointment soon, my friend. Dizzy spells are not to be ignored! Take care.
ReplyDeleteSpecialist are booked quite far ahead there days so you shouldn't put off calling.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else. Get that appointment now. If you fall again you could easily break some bones and that is the last thing you need to deal with. This heat is just amazing. It never ends. I've got my air set on 83 at night and I too have adjusted to that. But it's not fun. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteBarbara I am glad you are going to the neurologist. Do not put it off because that can be a lot of things. It could also be sign for something you are unaware of. Please go. If i lived there I'd come get you. We are hot but not as hot as Houston probably. Only 95 here and oppressive humidity. We used to have $300 a/c bills too. We got a nest when on QVC so I only had to pay monthly payments for 4 months. It dropped our bill to $180 last month. I don't know how or why but we used their info to get the most out of this and so far it worked and we were so damn shocked. Hubby thought it was BS. But this is hottest it's been since living here in the south and our bill is almost 1/2 off. We keep it far cooler than you. 74 during the day and 71 to sleep with an overhead fan on high! Now go to the doctor Barbara!
ReplyDeleteMy sweet friend. I'm so sorry about the dizziness; I struggle with bouts of Vertigo off and on since Covid, so I can't imagine going through this so badly daily. You need to see a specialist before you really hurt yourself. Please.
ReplyDeleteThe heat is ridiculous, but luckily it won't last forever. Right? Please say I'm right? 😳
Take care of yourself. XOXO
Wow! You too? It really is the pits, isn't it? I just asked my doctor if it was OK for me to use the scopolamine (for motion sickness) patches that I used for our cruise. in early spring. He said to go ahead and see if it will work better. He also said not to worry about taking Meclizine (Bonine) more than 5 days. And yes, he wants me to go through the tests too. I'm so sorry for all that heat you're experiencing. It's really important to keep hydrated. I'm drinking a bit of Liquid IV everyday.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your visit. I'm so very pleased to meet you.
